| Answer: | Copper will remove the duckweed (and probably kill the fish too.) Ranchu goldfish will eat prodigious amounts of Duckweed as long as they are sizeable, say 4-6 inches in length. Grass carp are affordable solutions but they will root up the Bass beds in a natural pond, and stop the sport fish reproduction, do they care? Koi will also eat duck weed with zeal if they aren't fed anything else. A plain old skimmer could pull the duckweed out, the large Oase pumps can handle solids of this kind up to 5/16th of an inch and could simply chuck the duck weed into the garden. Do you have a reasonable source for replacement water or should the Oase shoot the water through a window screen on a frame? |
